Southern California Edison (SCE) is the nation's leader in energy efficiency savings. During the past five years, SCE's energy efficiency programs have saved more than 5 billion kilowatt hours - enough energy to power 725,000 homes for an entire year. The programs have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 2 million metric tons - the equivalent of removing 350,000 cars from the road. During the next two years, SCE will help customers save an additional 2 billion kilowatt hours, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by another 1 million tons. SCE is one of the nation's leaders promoting the switch to compact florescent lights (CFLs). Its participation in the Department of Energy's "Change a Light, Change the World" program has resulted in the installation of more than 935,000 CFLs.
Because of SCE's achievements, SCE was recognized nationally for the seventh time in April 2008 with the ENERGY STAR® award by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy for the effectiveness of its energy efficiency programs.
