SCE Rate Advisory - March 1, 2024
SCE Rate Advisory
Our Rates are Increasing on March 1, 2024
Throughout the year, we submit requests to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to change our rates. Any changes to our rates that may cause your monthly electricity bill to increase or decrease must be approved by the CPUC. This March 1 rate increase is the combined result of two previously approved decisions and Advice Letters from 2023.
Current Average Residential Rate: 33.4 cents per kWh
New Average Residential Rate: 33.8 cents per kWh
The table below shows an estimate of how your residential SCE bill may be affected by our March 1, 2024 rate increase:
Average Residential Customer Monthly Bill Impacts
Primary drivers for this rate increase are:
- Rising interest rates in 2022 and 2023. This led to an automatic adjustment of SCE's already approved cost of capital, which is the amount of money SCE must raise to support major infrastructure projects.
- Administration costs to deliver demand response programs in 2024. These programs offer financial incentives to customers who agree to reduce their electricity usage when energy demands are high.
- The rate increase also reflects the amounts needed by SCE to administer its demand response programs in 2024. These programs offer financial incentives to customers who agree to reduce their electricity usage when energy demands are high.
